Program Your Mind to Attract What You Want

Are You Confusing Your Brain?

How to Program Your Mind to Attract What You Want

by Jack Canfield, America’s Success Coach;

We all aspire to be, do and have great things. Yet most of us simply aren’t creating the results we want. We don’t have enough money, romance, success or joy in our lives. But what we need to understand is that greatness exists in all of us. It is simply up to us to pull it out of ourselves. We all have genius. We just need to learn how to apply it.

Decide What You Want

In order to get what you want, you must first decide what you want. Most people really foul up at this crucial first step because they simply can’t see how it’s possible to get what they want — so they don’t even let themselves want it. Don’t sabotage yourself that way! What scientists now know about how the brain works is that you must first decide WHAT you want before your brain can figure out HOW to get it. Once you lock-in your desires, your mind and the universe can step in. Are you ready to get started.

Be Willing to Dream Big Dreams

As soon as you commit to a big dream and really go after it, your subconscious creative mind will come up with big ideas to make it happen. You’ll start attracting the people, resources, and opportunities you need into your life to make your dream come true. Big dreams not only inspire you, they compel others to want to play big, too.

Set Goals That Will Stretch You

Another value in giving yourself permission to go after the big dreams is that big dreams require you to grow in order to achieve them. In fact, in the long run, that is the greatest benefit you will receive from pursuing your dreams — not so much the outer trappings of fulfilling the dream (an expensive car, impressive house, loads of money and philanthropic opportunities), but who you become in the process. As I’ve seen many times over, the outer symbols of success, can all be easily lost. Houses burn down, companies go bankrupt, relationships end in divorce, cars get old, bodies age and fame wanes, but who you are, what you have learned and the new skills you have developed never go away. These are the true prizes of success. Motivational philosopher, Jim Rohn advises that “You should set a goal big enough that in the process of achieving it, you become someone worth becoming.”

Service to Others

Something else you’ll discover is that when your dreams include service to others — accomplishing something that contributes to others — it also accelerates the accomplishment of that goal. People want to be part of something that contributes and makes a difference.

Turn Your Dreams into Goals and Objectives

Once you are clear about what you want, you must turn each item into a measurable objective. By measurable, I mean measurable in space and time — how much and by when. For instance, if you were to tell me that you wanted more money, I might pull out a dollar and give it to you, but you would probably protest, saying “No, I meant a lot more money — like $20,000!” Well, how am I supposed to know unless you tell me? Similarly, your boss, your friends, your spouse, your brain — God, the Universe — can’t figure out what you want unless you tell them specifically what it is. What do you want — exactly — and when do you want it by?

Write Your Goals Down

Write your goals down in detail, and read your list of goals every day. This will keep your subconscious mind focused on what you want. For an even more powerful approach, close your eyes and focus on each goal and ask yourself, “What is one thing I could do today to move toward the achievement of this goal Write down your answers and take those actions. To help your reticular activating system begin finding YOUR wants in unexpected places, take time now to decide what you want and start writing!

7 Steps to Vibrant Health

Do you wake up tired every morning?

Are you constantly catching colds, flu and allergies and feeling run down? Do you suffer from low energy and the mid afternoon slump? Are you fed up trying to lose weight?

We live in a time where so many things compete for our attention that often our health ends up last on the priority list. Yet we forget that nothing else matters without our health. We forget that if we don’t make time for our health now, we will have to make time for illness in the future. Numerous studies show that an over-acidic body leads to weight gain, fatigue, accelerated ageing, poor digestion, aches and pains, foggy thinking. Every day acids like caffeine, sugar, whites, vinegar, nicotine, meat, dairy, alcohol and prescription drugs not only are all highly addictive but also rob us of our nutrients and leave us feeling lethargic and lacking in energy.

Alkalising and living an alkaline lifestyle will make you feel more alive, more vibrant and full of energy (and you’ll lose weight along the way). You will have the ability to feel totally renewed and full of energy, you will radiate good health and you can get rid of most of your nagging health problems.

When you wake up tired wishing you could have another couple of hours in bed and think you won’t come to life until your first or second cup of coffee or tea, you are probably acidic. If you wind down at the end of a stressful day with a couple of glasses of wine or you suffer from the afternoon slump where you think only a cup of tea and a chocolate biscuit will bring you back to life, you are probably over acidic. It’s a safe bet that you are overly acidic – the simple fact is, most people are.

When we reach for the quick fix of caffeine, sugar, nicotine or any of the highly addictive acids, the glucose levels in our body rise, and the pancreas reacts by releasing an excessive amount of insulin into the body. The sugar is rapidly burned, producing a surge of energy. The blood sugar then falls below the normal level producing some unpleasant symptoms such as headaches, unnecessary hunger, fatigue and like any other drug, the craving for more. Hence the highs and lows throughout the day. High insulin levels inhibit the release of growth hormones which in turn depresses the immune system. High insulin levels also make our bodies feel hungry and result in increased fat cell storage.

Caffeine stimulates the adrenal glands to produce adrenaline and cortisone – hormones your body depends on to elevate the heart rate, increase respiration and blood pressure. Eventually the adrenal glands become exhausted and stop responding, leaving you more vulnerable to health hazards. A highly acidic diet promotes over-acidification of the blood and tissues which is conducive to the growth of virus, bacteria, yeast and fungus – the great decomposer of cells and tissues in the human body.

If you are overweight, you most likely do not have a fat problem, it is probable you have an acid problem. When the body produces more insulin, it stores more fat. If medication or a magic pill was the real answer to health problems, then we’d all feel as good as we wanted to feel. By alkalising your body, you’ll begin to eliminate the acids and recreate the optimum ph level which will affect every cell in your body.

So what do you have to do to feel incredible? How do you transform your life and take things to the next level? Some very small changes in your daily habits could bring about huge changes in your health, your energy levels and ultimately the quality of your life. Give yourself the opportunity to live the life you deserve. Be blessed with the health and energy that is rightfully yours.

Here are our Top 7 Ways to Alkalise and Energise for Life

1. Hydrate your body – Drink at least 2 litres of water per day (more if you’re exercising) We lose on average 2 litres a day while we’re talking, sleeping, eating, breathing and sweating. The effects of mild dehydration include decreased coordination and fatigue. A carefully hydrated body produces colourless urine. Some side effects of dehydration include stress, headaches, weight gain, allergies, high blood pressure and Alzheimers. Keep it simple: add fresh lemon, lime or cucumber to your water daily. Most of the time when we think we are hungry, we are thirsty. A dry mouth is the last outward sign of dehydration.

2. Eliminate or reduce caffeine – this is found in coffee, tea, cocoa (that includes chocolate!) and soft drinks. Try dandelion coffee as a substitute which supports and detoxes your liver or chamomile tea which is caffeine free.

3. Eliminate or reduce sugar: processed or refined sugar is very acidic and increases glucose levels in the body causing them to rise rapidly. Try alternative snacks such as a handful of nuts which are full of protein and essential oils (almonds, hazelnuts, pumpkin and sunflower seeds), avocado, celery and cucumber crudités or oatcakes.

4. Eliminate or reduce white refined carbohydrates: that includes bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, cakes (white flour). This is because these foods are all very high carbohydrate, high glycemic and spike our blood sugar. Try sweet potatoes, rice noodles, vegetable pastas, wheat free pastas, granary or seeded bread, brown basmati rice.

5. Eliminate or reduce acid addictions: a. Vinegar, the product of decay, contains acetic acid which affects the liver in much the same way as alcohol does. Vinegar thickens the blood putting a strain on the functioning of the arteries and the heart and also interferes with the digestion of starch. b. Alcohol – ok it doesn’t have to be forever but you do more good hitting 80% consistently than 100% and only lasting for three days. c. Nicotine – the negative effects of nicotine abuse are well known: increased risk of heart disease, lung cancer, stroke, emphysema, hypertension, infertility to name but a few. d. Drugs – the dangers of illegal drugs are obvious, but the potential dangers of prescription drugs are not so well publicized. e. Avoid acid-forming foods that are devoid of life – meats, dairy products.

6. Supplement – chose natural supplements as the body absorbs these more easily; not synthetic and man-made (which tend to be cheaper) as these end up as expensive urine. Cooking and processing often reduces the nutrients we get from our food.

7. Aerobic Exercise – the more you exercise the more energy you’ll have. 30 minutes a day 3 to 5 times a week should be your base. Take the stairs, leave your car, park on the other side of the car park and walk to the door of the supermarket or cinema – don’t be lazy and fight to get parked at the door. Remember you’ll burn the same amount of calories if you walk a mile as if you run a mile. Walking, swimming, cycling, running are all great ways to get started. Once you have your base established, get a plan to take your fitness to the next level. Give yourself the opportunity to live the life you deserve. Be blessed with the health and energy that is rightfully yours.

3 Great Reasons to Set Goals

Goal setting is not new. Business and motivational experts such as Jim Rohn or Brian Tracy have been extolling their virtues for many years. Napoleon Hill in the classic Think and Grow Rich writes:

“Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe he can achieve”.

But how exactly can the process of setting goals bring about tangible results?

For many, the goal of running a marathon is all about crossing the finish line. Consider this, that the larger achievement is the ability to get to the start line! The race itself may last 3, 4 or 5 hours depending on your ability, but the preparation will have been many weeks and months of effort, dedication and motivation. In other words the person you will have to become to be in the condition to start the race is the more significant part of achieving the goal.

Listen to an athlete, a best-selling author, a successful professional, or entrepreneur – they will all talk about dreams and goals! The visualisation of their achievements and success is in their minds way before they appear in reality. These are goals that have created passion in their lives, that move them into daily, monthly and yearly action, and that bring emotion because of the clear sacrifices that have been made preceding long aspired victories. Goals can create miracles and accomplishment by providing the inspiration to take action.

The Reticular Activating System (RAS)

The reticular activating system is part of the brain that acts like a filter between the conscious and subconscious mind. It takes instructions from the conscious mind and passes them on to the subconscious. For example, the instruction might be, “listen out for anyone saying my name”.

At any one time, we are receiving around 100,000 times more information than we are capable of processing. Most of the incoming stimulus is irrelevant to us so the RAS filters let in only what we need.

For example imagine that you are at a party and you are in conversation with someone on one side of the room. There is a lot of information that your mind could be processing, all the sights, sounds, smells, conversations etc but the conscious mind can only handle a small part of the information. Suddenly however, your attention is drawn to another conversation across the room when someone mentioned your name.

Another good example is when you have bought or are considering buying a new car. Suddenly that exact make and model are everywhere. It appears highly unlikely that there are suddenly more of those cars around, it’s just that you now begin to notice them.

So in what ways can the RAS influence goal achievement? First, you can deliberately program the reticular activating system by choosing the exact messages you send from your conscious mind. For example, by setting goals, saying affirmations, or visualising your goals.

Secondly, your RAS cannot distinguish between ‘real events’ and imagined ones. In other words it tends to believe whatever message you give it. Once we are aware of this we can use it to our advantage. Imagine that you’re going to attend an interview. You can rehearse the event by visualising it in your mind. This ‘pretend’ practice should improve your confidence and performance at the interview.

What we need to do is to create a very specific picture of our goal in our conscious mind. The RAS will then pass this on to our subconscious – which will then help us achieve the goal. It does this by bringing to our attention all the relevant information which otherwise might have remained as ‘background noise’. We then notice new opportunities and ways in which we can make our goals a reality.

A third reason why goal setting works is that the process of defining your goals brings you into alignment with your true desires and values. If for example, a person sets a goal to be a millionaire but inwardly has hidden and limiting beliefs about money, then the goal is unlikely to be achieved. It is only when the conscious and subconscious minds are in harmony that a person will identify opportunities and take the inspired action which is necessary for success.

An effective goal setting session should therefore incorporate a period of evaluation and review. In this way the underlying values and motivations can be identified. It is often said that the Why is more important than the How, and this is certainly true of goal setting and goal achievement. Once a clear reason is established as to why the achievement of the goal is so important then the vision of its success is more likely to bring the goal into reality.

If you don’t already set goals, there is never a better time to start than right now. As you make this technique part of your life, you’ll find your career accelerating, improve your relationships and bring your dreams into reality. Further resources and a goal setting checklist is available from the SuccessBlog.

Goal Setting Checklist

The following ideas will help you to set more effective goals:

State each goal as a positive statement: Express your goals positively and in the present tense- ‘I am earning $100,000′ is a much better goal than ‘I don’t want to be in debt’

Be specific: Set a precise goal, putting in dates, times and amounts so that you can measure achievement. If you do this, you will know exactly when you have achieved the goal, and can take complete satisfaction from having achieved it.

Set priorities: When you have several goals, give each a priority. This helps you to avoid feeling overwhelmed by too many goals, and helps to direct your attention to the most important ones.

Write goals down: This crystallises them and gives them more force. Taking ideas from your mind and writing them or putting them on screen is a process which makes you more accountable to yourself and others

Set interim goals: Keep the low-level goals you are working towards small and achievable. If a goal is too large, then it can seem overwhelming and that you are not making progress towards it. Keeping goals small and incremental gives more opportunities for reward. Derive today’s goals from larger ones.

Set performance goals, not outcome goals: You should take care to set goals over which you have as much control as possible. There is nothing more dispiriting than failing to achieve a personal goal for reasons beyond your control. If you base your goals on personal performance, then you can keep control over the achievement of your goals and draw satisfaction from them.

Set stretching yet realistic goals: It is important to set goals that you can achieve. All sorts of people (employers, parents, media, and society) can set unrealistic goals for you. They will often do this in ignorance of your own desires and ambitions. Alternatively you may set goals that are too high, because you may not appreciate either the obstacles in the way or understand quite how much skill you need to develop to achieve a particular level of performance. Goals should stretch and inspire but not be so far out of reach that they lose their pull.

Remember the Why – consider your compelling reasons why the goal is important and what it will mean to achieve it.

7 Steps to Financial Success

In 1910 Wallace D Wattles wrote one of THE classic books on wealth creation and financial success called ‘The Science of Getting Rich’ which has inspired generations of entrepreneurs, business owners and free thinkers. It was credited as the inspiration behind the Law of Attraction book and movie phenomenon ‘The Secret’. In it Wattles lays out a blueprint for achieving financial success and getting rich. A free copy of the full e-Book is available from our site URSuccess.Net

The 7 Steps to Financial Success

  1. Cooperation – Universal energy is always creative and never competitive in spirit. Therefore to be successful we must give up competitiveness and work on helping one another. The concept of a self made millionaire is a false one. Very few get rich on their own without the support of a team.
  2. Gratitude – A person may come into full harmony with Universal energy by entertaining a lively and sincere gratitude for the blessings it bestows upon him. Gratitude unifies the mind of man with the intelligence of substance, so that man’s thoughts are received by the formless. A person can remain upon the creative plane only by uniting himself with the formless intelligence through a deep and continuous feeling of gratitude.
  3. Mental Image – A person must form a clear and definite mental image of the things he or she wishes to have, to do, or to become, and must hold this mental image in thoughts, while being deeply grateful to the supreme that all his desires are granted. The person who wishes to get rich must spend his leisure hours in contemplating that vision, and in earnest thanksgiving that the wealth is being given to them. Too much stress cannot be laid on the importance of frequent contemplation of the mental image, coupled with unwavering faith and devout gratitude. This is the process by which the impression is given to the formless and the creative forces set in motion.
  4. Take action – What is truly wanted will come through the ways of established trade business and commerce. Universal energy may provide the ideas but we must convert these ideas into reality.
  5. In order to receive wealth and riches when it is ready to come, a person must be in action in a way that causes them to more than fill his present place. In other words in order to expand our financial success we must play a larger role and contribute more to the world.
  6. Do your best everyday and all the time. A person must keep in mind the purpose to get rich through realization of their mental image and must do, every day all that can be done that day, taking care to do each act in a successful manner. Do what you love or at least love what you do.
  7. Give value to receive value. A person must give to every other person a use value in excess of the money received, so that each transaction makes for more life, and they must hold the advancing thought so that the impression of increase will be communicated to all with whom they comes into contact. Millionaires are not made in one off transactions but true wealth is created by delighting your customers and clients time and time again.

In today’s economy many are seeking answers. For some, the Law of Attraction appears inconsistent or unreliable. Since the ‘Secret’ many have been disappointed by lack of immediate results – dismissing the principle as new age hokum. From a personal perspective I remain steadfastly convinced that thinking negatively can only create bad feelings, despair and more negativity including ill health. If this is true, then logic would suggest that the opposite may also be true and that positive thinking, optimism and action may set in motion a positive spiral towards health, wealth and happiness. For a great number of successful people the combination of setting definite goals, visualising success and taking inspired action can be largely attributed to their achievements. If we believe that ‘success leaves clues’, then these actions and the 7 steps above should form part of everyone’s success strategies.
